the LAMP GOSPELS
Originally the title of our blog was "the gospel of Matthew according to LAMP"; however, it has been changed to the "LAMP GOSPELS".
Reading more about relativism it occurred to me that:
"the gospels cannot be in accordance to us; instead it must be us whom are to be in accordance with the gospels".
Furthermore, as partners with the gospels, the result simply becomes:
Lee Strobel has written a book called "the Case for the Real Jesus". In his book, he interviews Paul Copan, PH.D in the chapter titled, "People should be free to pick and choose what to believe about Jesus".
Strobel's discussion touches on the 2005 CBS survey, observation, that 8 out of 10 individuals shop for faith and custom tailor, God, Jesus, or whatever religion their path leads them on, to fit their personal preferences.
In the realm of ideas; relativism plays a large role. When it comes to ideas between one another, we have the free will to form our own individual opinions. A commercial world has evolved into a do-it-yourself, customized, bundle, packaged, integrated services, feature and benefits consumption society. Couple that with values, attitudes, beliefs, and behavior absolutely follows accordingly. So it is no surprise that many take the same approach to their pursuit of faith, religion, spirituality, atheism, or otherwise.
One must be in accordance with God our heavenly father through Jesus Christ, who was crucified, and died for our sins then, now, and for all eternity.
There is no other alternative.
Relativism is certainly important within it's own applications. In terms of viewpoints, perspectives, philosophies and otherwise. However, relativism is always changing, adapting, evolving, never ending.
Relativism according to Sir Karl Popper, whom I consider an authority on the matter, as discussed in "of Clocks and Clouds" he proposed:
We as beings are problem solvers, and intellectually always evolving. Sir Popper's scheme is as follows:Relativism is inconclusive; however, God is truth, and that is conclusive. Relativism cannot be applied to God. We were made by God and certainly given free will, however, we are not entitled to custom tailor God. Who are we, to ascertain who or what God should be and dictate the terms of the relationship.
1. Problem or situation is identified. "It is hot outside."
2. A temporary solution is determined. "Wear light and cool clothing."
3. Errors and Omissions. "I forgot to consider how bright it is out here. The glare is heavy."
4. New Problem. "I need to find something so I can see better."
Feedback loop ongoing.
God is beyond our comprehension, and we are a speck in His world, that He created. Yet in spite of our disrespect, ultimate selfishness, et all, God loves each of us, again, beyond our own comprehension.
You can argue all day long about the theory of evolution etc., Darwin, Descartes "I think, therefore, I am"....
So what, there where giraffes with short necks, and they evolved to have longer necks.
Budweiser had canned beer, and evolved to the "long neck" bottle. When you where born you had to walk, before running...at least such was the case for most of us. If you ran first..that is another topic...
All these examples are adaptive and changing, God does not change, God is constant, God is truth.
Therefore we conclude that this will not be Matthew in accordance to LAMP, instead this will be the LAMP in accordance with the gospels, or simply the LAMP GOSPELS.
Furthermore, this is presenting the Descartes philosophers/followers with yet another problem to solve, and another loop on their never ending road of relativism.
as Jesus Christ, the Son of God, said, "I AM WHO I AM".

GIVE TO GET
After a failure I feel lonely and afraid. Its hardest at these moments to pick yourself up and give a little in order to get. The only way to climb out of the hole, when you have a metaphoric needle sticking out of your veins and you’re lying in the gutter that the world has kicked you to, is to give back without asking, give as if you were the richest man in the world.
This is not the same as giving to charity. There are so many other ways to give that are underappreciated. But its exactly these types of giving where the world will give you back ten times more than you gave.
Here’s 13 ways that Giving can help you Receive more
- Give credit where its due. Every day, give credit to your boss, your friends, your employees, your colleagues, even if it was your own ideas. Just give them credit. Everyone knows the reality. And the reality is YOU.
- Give Equity. When I started Stockpickr, someone wrote a blog post criticizing me for giving thestreet.com 50% of my business. One of my employees even quit, he was so upset at that decision. (Although he’s since gone on to better things.) But that decision hooked thestreet.com into my business. Once the company was up for sale (which was the second after we launched the company) they were basically locked into my tractor beam to the point where they had to buy the company. If I had given them any less of the business I’d probably be sitting on a worthless website right now, post financial crisis.
- Give a customer more than they asked for. When I first did websites for New line cinema (in my old business, Reset), I offered to essentially do websites for all of their movies for almost free. That kept business coming from the whole Time Warner family and also gave my employees fun stuff to do in between doing websites for Con Edison and other boring companies. It also got clients for me because everyone thought our New Line sites were ‘edgy’.
- Give up. Some businesses just don’t work. Don’t make the issue worse by raising money and being fooled by the prophets who tell you persistence is key. 140love.com was my latest bad idea. Go check it out. I put $30k into that baby and on the eve of raising $500k I told everyone to save their wires and not send the money. It was a bad idea. The ghost-site still exists. Knock yourselves out.
- Give ideas. I’ve told this story before, but when I was really down and wanted to get things going for myself, I came up with as many ideas as I could for other people and simply gave them away for free. The results were stupendous. Sit down every day, picture a person you can give ideas to, and come up with ten good ideas for them. At the very least this will exercise the idea muscle, which atrophies like any other muscle if it’s not in constant use.
- Give time. Cornell, my alma-mater, recently asked me to donate some money, like they ask all alumni. I said there’s no way I can do that, since I’ve repeatedly written articles suggesting that parents not send their kids to college. BUT, I would be more than happy to give my time. So I went up, spoke to a bunch of groups of very smart, talented college students, and even found out about a business done by students who had just graduated that seemed interesting. I immediately came home and invested in the business. More on that in another post.
- Give silence. My 8 year old was crying the other day. She was upset about nothing. Like 8 year old girls sometimes get. But I sat down next to her and said nothing and just listened while her mind thrashed about a bit. I’m glad I did it. Just to hear her laugh a little by the end of it.
- Give to yourself. When I have a score, I give to myself. I’ll stay in a nice hotel, or go on a nice trip, or buy some books, or take some time to go to an art gallery or museum. I take for myself when I’ve been given. Which goes along with…
- Give thanks. Every day at the end of the day, I think of the things I’m thankful and grateful for. You don’t need to be good at meditation to be as enlightened as the Buddha. Just spend a few minutes a day counting the things you are thankful for. I’m thankful for my family. I’m thankful for the people who have remained friends over the years. I’m also thankful Ben Bernanke decided to print up another $600bb dollars over the next few months. I hope I can take some of that and put it in my pocket.
- Give for free. Don’t fool yourself into thinking that giving to charity is a good thing. It’s a completely selfish act when you give $100 for someone to finish a 100 mile race for charity and you put your name all over the donation. If you really want to “give”, do it anonymous and stop waving it in front of our faces.
- Give your honesty. When someone asks for your opinion on something there’s so many incentives to lie. When someone asks you to dinner or out to an event, the first impulse is to be dishonest and say, “sorry, my leg is breaking that day, I can’t”. But be honest and constructive in your honesty. Give value when you give your opinion. Help someone be better by making sure you are not only honest with them but really honest with yourself as to why your opinions are what they are. Where do they come from deep down. Make their lives better and they will one day return the favor. Try being 100% honest for just one day. Its not as easy as it seems. Never criticize but improve the things around you when you give your honesty.
- Save a life every day. I’ve written about this before. But my goal in life is to be a vigilante, anonymous superhero. If you can save a life a day, with strangers or with friends, then you’re a hero. And heroes have all sorts of benefits in life that civilians never get or don’t even know exists. If you don’t believe me, save a life today and see what happens.
- Meditate on giving. Above I said give thanks for everything there is to be thankful for. That’s one meditation. The other meditation is to think of all the giving you can do tomorrow. Go up and down this list and see what items on it you can do tomorrow.

With something so important, "why wait"? We have made things so complicated in this fast buzzing world. We cannot go deep into anything as we move through life skimming the surface. UNPLUG!
With your twitter feeds going nuts, updating facebook, mobile phone apps, kids, spouses, demands, issues...etc. The social fabric has totally lost it's entire perspective amidst productivity enhancement technologies and methods.
The depths of information, knowledge, etc...IS A BLACK HOLE and will never stop. We have enough technology to last us for another 500 years.
Get deep with Christ, not theology, not church, not evangalism, none of this.
There is absolutely nothing more important. Nothing is more important than a closer, deeper, relationship with Christ. This was Paul's entire point in Philippians.
As important as this may be, should you choose to go after this to make a change, it will take an IMMENSE EFFORT. Your course has been navigated, etched, formed, cut deep into the tight grips of many other distractions, and giving them up will not be easy.
So think on this...until the next post; where I will expand the framework needed to get started.

What we long for is......to become more deeply and intimately acquainted with Christ
These words come from Paul's writings in Philippians 3:10
Read the following slowly.
[For my determined purpose is] that I may know Him- that I may progressively become more deeply and intimately acquainted with Him, perceiving, and recognizing, and understanding [the wonders of His Person] more strongly and more clearly. And that I may in that same way come to know the power out flowing from His Resurrection [the power it exerts over believers]; and that I may so share His sufferings as to be continually transformed [in spirit into His likeness even] to His death.
This single sentence represents the apostle's great goal for life.
Go back and re-read this more slowly. Preferably aloud, chew on them, get alone, and ponder them.
This begins my manifest as to [when, where, and how] a relationship with Christ flows.

SUCCESS, HOW AND THE COSTS
This post is one that reads well, yet sounds easier than it looks.
Success. A term measured in numerous ways.
After more than 25 years of learning my own craft, I will admit that this is not the first time I have encountered words of similar wisdom. The initial thought is to implement the words of wisdom, and not three days have passed and the new urgency of the moment has me knee deep in alligators. Thereafter the entire "success factors secret sauce" is diluted daily with the new fire of the day.

Sure you say to yourself, "not me, I am organized, a planner, strategic." That may be so. Whatever, you believe is your edge, more power to you, you are gonna need it. What I have found is even the best laid plan is and will be subject to disaster and chaos. Why, because chaos is the rule rather than the exception.
A plan, method, process, is always subject to refinement, and modification. The plan and method forms the routine and structure that built with consistency, fortitude and together with the right people and God as a partner, increases the likelihood of success in the face of the greatest of storms.
I once heard a pastor say, "Love God with all your heart and soul and you can do anything you want." Realize that, this means accountability, and responsibility to God as well too. No plan together with God can fail.
Nevertheless, whenever we get up and go, the enemy howls the wind, the waves white cap, and the environment becomes chaos. Chaos, at least until you sit back down, where the enemy, smiles and says, "now that's better".
Instead, you are encouraged, to step out of the boat as Peter did, and inside the chaos look to Christ and with Faith, walk on water. The storm will end that is for certain, the question is what will be the end result?

How to Focus Your Life
"Abraham was now old and well advance in years, and the Lord had blessed him in every way." Genesis 24:1 (NIV)
"You can't just know the what, you need to know the why - that's your motivation. If you don't know why, you will give up when it gets tough. "
The next ten years can be the greatest of your life. They can become a Decade of Destiny, where your life is focused and, as a result, you're able to make an impact in all you do.
To get where you believe God wants you to go and be what you know God wants you to be, there are several steps you need to take that will get you focused --
Step #1 - Determine your present position
You've got to know where you are before you can know where you are going. To do that, ask yourself two questions:
1. Where am I now? Where are you spiritually, financially, emotionally, relationally, physically, and occupationally?
2. What would I like to change? In all of those areas you identified, what would you like to be different?
God promised Abraham that he would be become the father of a great nation. But in Genesis 24, we find Abraham is now an old man and his son, Isaac, still doesn't have any children yet. Abraham assessed the situation and, as a result, he sent his servant, Eliezer, to find a wife for Isaac.
An important principle here is that it is never too late for you to make a change in your life, even though making the change may take longer than you think. This is why you can't procrastinate. You can either drift through the next ten years or you can have direction over the next ten years. God wants you to have direction.

In order to get to where you want to be, you need to describe exactly what you want.
For instance, Abraham told Eliezer exactly what kind of wife he wanted for Isaac. He said, "Don't get a wife for my son from the Canaanite girls. Instead, go back ... to the land of my relatives and get a wife for my son" (Genesis 24:3-4 NIV).
You will never reach a vague goal. The more general it is, the less power it has. But the more specific it is, the more power it has in your life.
Ask yourself these four questions:
1. What do I want to be?
2. What do I want to do?
3. What do I want to have?
4. Why do I want it?
You can't just know the what, you need to know the why - that's your motivation. If you don't know why, you will give up when it gets tough.
When Eliezer heard Abraham's goal, he started asking "What if...?" If you listen to the what-ifs of your goal, you will fail because of worry and fear.
You don't need to focus on the how for now because, once you figure out the why, God will show you how. He will help you solve the problems that stand in the way of your goal.

When Eliezer heard Abraham's goal, he started asking "What if...?" If you listen to the what-ifs of your goal, you will fail because of worry and fear.
You don't need to focus on the how for now because, once you figure out the why, God will show you how. He will help you solve the problems that stand in the way of your goal.

NO PRESSURE and CLIMATE PROPAGANDA
The environmentalists have got a sick sense of humor. They thought it would be funny to blow children and human beings up in their recent video 10:10. It certainly is a way to generate awareness. The video shows the power of suggestion, group think, peer pressure and punishment for not standing firm to an individual opinion when asked if they where on board with taking action to limit their carbon footprint.
A carbon footprint that is still an unproven activity. It is my opinion, that the entire idea of climate change is more about establishing an industry to spur economic growth in an effort to generate tax revenue for world governments.
